Fun in the North

We took off early Sunday morning for a day at the cabin. A few weeks ago we piled, cut and hauled brush and timber so we could have a few burn days. Well.... that was a good idea but we had to walk through at least 16 inches of snow, dig through the snow and ice to find the piles and then haul them out of the woods. We took a break and had hamburgers and soup (cabin food is getting low) then worked some more, then warmed up inside by playing cards and Yatzee until the burn piles had burned themselves out. Addlea drove back to Chicago, we drove back from up north and it was the first trip with the puppy!!!! Fun and very uneventful...
Her name is Pepper and she's the puppy Addlea is holding. She is part Golden Retriever and not sure what else. She's been with us a week and we are getting potty trained quite well.....It's almost as bad as having a baby in the house but we never put our babies on the deck and told them to go potty... A few of them did, but we never told them to!
Up north with our burn piles. This one is in the middle of the driveway.

The best place to sit was in one of the 4 foot tall snowbanks the snow plows left for us.

Here they come....

As long as there was a fire, I got out the marshmellows and cooked me up a couple. I didn't go back in for the crackers and candy bars because I was trying to keep my fire going!!!
